Сертификат SIL характеризует надёжность системы. Его цель — выявление и предотвращение опасной ситуации, которая может возникнуть в ходе какой-либо операции.
На протяжении всего жизненного цикла применяется V-модель.

Сертификат SIL определён на четырёх уровнях в зависимости от вероятности отказа системы. Чем выше уровень SIL, тем ниже вероятность отказа системы и тем выше её эксплуатационные показатели.
Для ALPSD-1000 получена сертификация SIL3.
