The SIL certificate indicates the reliability of a system. The aim is to detect a hazardous condition that may occur during any operation and to prevent that condition.
The V-model is applied throughout the life cycle.

The SIL certificate is defined at four separate levels according to the probability of failure of the system. As the SIL level increases, the probability of system failure decreases and system performance increases.
SIL3 certification has been obtained for the ALPSD-1000.
